Call for Abstracts, Guidelines

Call for abstracts is open by October 7, 2024
Deadline for abstract submission: January 2, 2025, at 14:00 PM CET.

We are now accepting abstract submissions on relevant topics for ICSN 2025 in Aarhus, Denmark. The overarching theme of the conference is ”Shaping the Future of Cancer Screening” with the following subthemes:

Abstract Themes

Communication Strategies and Outreach
This theme invites abstracts that present new strategies for improving cancer screening outcomes in the population, including participation in cancer screening and compliance to any follow-up procedure. Submissions may also focus on communication tactics aimed at healthcare providers, the general population, or specific target groups.

Emerging Cancer Screening Programmes
Abstracts may focus on new or evolving screening programs for cancers like lung, anal, skin, oral, and prostate. Submissions may also explore multicancer early detection tests (MCED) or initiatives aimed at high-risk populations.

Equity in Cancer Screening
Abstracts should explore strategies to address disparities in cancer screening, focusing on vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. Submissions may highlight descriptive research or interventions aimed at improving access and participation. Emphasis on socioeconomic, geographic, and demographic factors is encouraged.

Informed Choice in Screening: Understanding and Communicating Benefits and Harms
This theme invites abstracts that examine methods for communicating the benefits and harms of cancer screening. Submissions should address how to inform citizens in a balanced way, while helping them make informed decisions regarding screening participation.

Methodologies in Cancer Screening Evaluation
Abstracts under this theme should focus on epidemiological methods or any other method used to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of screening programs. Topics may include the measurement of screening benefits and harms, modelling analysis,  cost-effectiveness analysis, and strategies to improve program evaluation.

New Technologies, Tests, Procedures, and Evaluation in Cancer Screening Programmes
This theme seeks abstracts that discuss advancements in cancer screening technology, such as but not limited to AI-driven diagnostics, novel tests, and procedures. This include the screening test or any screening derived diagnostic procedure. Submissions may include evaluations of these innovations in current or future screening programs.

Quality Assurance in Cancer Screening
Abstracts should address methods for ensuring high-quality cancer screening, including laboratory protocols, audits, and the use of key performance indicators (KPIs). Submissions may explore strategies to monitor screening processes, uptake, and outcomes for continuous improvement.

Risk-Based/Personalized Screening
This theme invites abstracts on flexible screening programs that consider individual risk factors. Submissions may include genetic profiling, biomarker panels, or other methods to optimize screening based on personal risk. Research that challenges the "one-size-fits-all" approach is highly relevant.

Screening Priorities from a Global Perspective
This theme seeks abstracts addressing cancer screening challenges and solutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Submissions should focus on global health disparities, strategies for improving screening access, and tailored programs for underserved regions, particularly in the Global South.

Stakeholder Engagement
Abstracts should explore strategies for involving stakeholders—patients, healthcare professionals, and policymakers—in cancer screening program design and implementation. Topics on involving patients or citizens in research is also covered here. Submissions may highlight successful models of public and professional engagement that enhance program delivery and outcomes.

If your research aligns with one of the selected themes, we encourage you to submit your abstract according to the following guidelines.
