The STS Conference takes place at Helnan Marselis Hotel.

Conference Venue Location

The venue and hotel is located in between the beach overlooking Aarhus Bay and Marselisborg Forest.

The conference venue is located roughly 3 kilometres from Aarhus city centre and can easily be reached via car or bus; or for the more adventurous, by bicycle or walking along the beautiful coastline to the venue. Free parking is available to conference delegates.

Getting to Aarhus

We have highlighted a few suggestions below on how to get to Aarhus. Participants will be able to depart on Friday evening to reach numerous major cities in the Nordic region.


By air:
Travelling to/from Aarhus Airport
Aarhus Airport is located 40 km north of the city and offers direct international flights to several European destinations as well as a frequent connection to Copenhagen Airport and Scandinavia. Please visit their website for information on flight arrival/departure times.

There is an airport shuttle bus from Aarhus Airport with frequent departures (every 20 minutes after each flight arrival with departures). For more information, please click here.

Travelling to/from Billund Airport
Billund Airport is Denmark’s second largest airport and located 100 km south of Aarhus. Billund has direct international flight connections to 100+ European destinations. Please visit the airport website for more information on arrivals and departures. 

There is an airport shuttle bus between Aarhus and Billund airport with several daily departures. The travel time from Billund Airport to downtown Aarhus is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. For more information, please click here.

Travelling to/from Copenhagen Airport
Copenhagen Airport is in one of largest in Scandinavia. Copenhagen Airport has a direct train connection to Aarhus central station (Aarhus H). Copenhagen Airport is connected to Aarhus Airport with many daily departures on weekdays and some departures on Saturdays and Sundays. The flight takes 35 minutes.

By train or bus
Aarhus lies at one of the most important railway junctions in Denmark. There are hourly departures to the north, south and west. From Southern and Central Europe, the connections are via Hamburg/Flensburg. Travel time from Hamburg to Aarhus is approximately five hours. From Eastern European countries train connections to Aarhus go via Poland and Copenhagen. 

Aarhus has hourly services to and from Copenhagen. There are several daily connections to Sweden, Germany and the rest of Europe.

By car/ferry
Aarhus has direct connections to the great European network of motorways, making it easy to get to most European cities. Both Hamburg and Malmø can be reached within roughly four hours. 

Norway and Sweden can also be reached by ferry. There is for instance a connection to Grenå (Halmstad-Grenå) and Frederikshavn (Frederikshavn-Gothenborg & Frederikshavn-Oslo).
