Session formats

Key Note Sessions (KEY)

A Key Note session format is a session format of 120 minutes for all participants.

Key Note Sessions present a generic approach towards rehabilitation. Six Key Note Sessions covers all five congress perspectives and a broad representation of human groups and life situations connected to rehabilitation.

Plenary Sessions are a session format of 60 minutes for up to 250-1000 participants.

A Plenary Session speaker is an expert in his/her field, which may be related to specific life situations or topics of interest to a large group but not all of conference participants. Still as with the Key Note Sessions a Plenary Session speech will draw lines to at least two other congress perspectives by examples and links to different program items in the congress.

Seminars (SEM)

A seminar is a session format of 60-100 minutes for up to 200 participants. A seminar is planned and chaired by one or two Seminar Hosts.

A seminar may highlight generic rehabilitation themes or focus on specific topics related to any theoretical, clinical or social practice and rehabilitation management.

Seminars engage into in-depth discussions, and are typically structured around a diverse panel of 3-5 short presentations (oral, video based etc.) addressing the given topic from one or some of the five congress perspectives. The panel will consist of national or international specialists.

50% of the seminar will be debates and discussions between all seminar participants.

Workshops (WRK)

A Workshop is a session format of 60-100 minutes for up to 200 participants to share experience, knowledge and visions with each other in an open and informal setting. The goal may be an exploration of new opportunities and projects.
Workshop topics may address any rehabilitation perspective.
A workshop will have one or two prepared presentations including invitations to participants to share related statements, documentation and links.
A workshop is chaired by one or two Workshop Hosts.

Master Classes (MCL)

A Master Class is a session format of 60 minutes for a limited number of participants to focus on a theoretical or a specific professional procedure, test, or the management and organization of service. The number of participants is decided by the host and is also dependent on the number of locations available.

A Master Class is hosted by a qualified specialist who has developed or worked with a specific tool or model of practice. The presentation stresses the demonstration and training of procedures.

Participants will obtain competences and knowledge to qualify specific procedures and documentation.

A Master Class may be planned as one or two sessions with different levels of content.

Poster Presentations (POS)

A poster presentation is a session format which may be bound to a printed graphic documentation of a project or any rehabilitation topic. The poster may also include interactive links to websites for further information, and a poster may refer to or supply other sessions during the congress. The posters may be uploaded to the RIWC 2020 App and become accessible before, during, and after the congress. The author of a poster will be present next to the poster at an announced time and may also promote the poster at one of the Speakers’ Corners and participate in other Session Formats.

Presenters may present various projects, practice documentation or video based “study visits” theses. Presentations may be organized as solo highlights of a given topic or subject or placed in temporal connection with related presentations.

Network Meetings (NET)

A Network Meeting is a session of 60 to 100 minutes and may be arranged by any special interest group or organization: Students, educators, delegates from a specific region, editors of research journals, politicians or Rehab CEOs…. etc. may plan for a by-invitation-only delegate meeting in any language or as an open session also including other congress delegates.

A Network Meeting is planned and hosted by the Network itself.

Exhibition Related Presentations (EXH)

Exhibitors participate in the congress mainly within the traditional Exhibition Area, and as partners of special constructions of living rooms, smart homes etc. Exhibitors may also participate in other session formats, under the same declaration of potential “conflict of interests” as any other presenter.

Study visits are arranged by rehabilitation institutions, departments, or companies, education or research units, or political managements.
