119 - Attitudes towards a risk-based optimisation of the colorectal cancer screening among Danish citizens – A focus group study.

Biography

Signe holds a professional bachelor's degree in nursing from VIA University College and a health science master's degree from Aarhus University. The purpose of her PhD is to explore the potential for a risk-based optimisation of the national colorectal cancer (CRC) screening program by further utilizing the Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) values. This includes investigating whether the screening interval can be extended for groups with the lowest FIT values and whether increase in negative FIT values can be used to predict the risk of CRC. Additionally, the project explores citizens' perspectives on a risk-based optimisation of the CRC screening programme.
Ms Kateřina Hejcmanová

356 - Prostate cancer screening positivity according to the individual history of opportunistic screening: population-based data from the Czech organised nationwide screening programme

Biography

My name is Kateřina Hejcmanová and I am a PhD student in the Oncology and Haematology programme at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, as well as a data analyst at the National Screening Centre. I mainly focus on statistical modelling and evaluation of screening programmes. My first major project was the development of a microsimulation model and CEA for cervical cancer screening, which I am currently completing.
Dr Janne Bigaard
Executive Project Manager
Danish Cancer Society

105 - Attitudes towards risk-stratified breast cancer screening among Danish women

Biography

anne Villemoes Bigaard is a certified breast surgeon now working as the executive project manager for Prevention and Information at the Danish Cancer Society. Janne leads a group focused on raising awareness and running campaigns about prevention. The topics include cancer screening, early signs of cancer, and HPV vaccination for children. Her work focuses on increasing participation in ongoing cancer screenings and improving communication to reach target groups. Janne is also involved in PRSONAL, a feasibility study on risk-based breast cancer screening, which started in 2022.

063 - SMARTER: Using blood Samples to iMprove FIT-bAsed coloRecTal cancEr screening

Biography

Line Haugaard Fly is a medical doctor and PhD. student at Research Unit for Screening and Epidemiology at Biochemistry and Immunology, Lillebaelt Hospital. Line Haugaard Fly has been working with an EU project regarding colorectal cancer screening for the last 1,5 years and has now initiated her PhD. project. The project will address an important topic by investigating whether blood samples can be used to provide a personalized risk assessment in colorectal cancer screening.
Ms Yuqing Hu
PhD Student
German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)

086 - Risk-adapted colorectal cancer screening for individuals with a family history of colorectal polyp

Biography

Yuqing is a third-year PhD student at German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). After obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Epidemiology degree, she has started her PhD life at DKFZ, specializing in developing risk-adapted colorectal cancer screening model. Her main focus is to find risk factors related to early-onset colorectal cancer, and then develop screening models for those high-risk individuals. Yuqing is also interested in evaluating the cost-effectiveness of risk-adapted screening models.
Ms Ann-Britt Kvernrød
Anthropologist
The Danish Cancer Society

039 - Attitudes towards risk-stratified breast cancer screening in Denmark – a qualitative study

Biography

As an anthropologist I have worked with qualitative research and communication at The Danish Cancer Society for the past 20 years, primarily in the fields of cancer screening, HPV-vaccination and early detection of cancer. It is important to understand our target groups on their own premises. Whether they are citizens with non-western background, not screened for colorectal cancer or young HPV-vaccinated women not participating in cervical screening. Our studies show that our target groups do want more information, but very seldom seek this themselves.
Maali-liina Remmel
Junior Research Fellow
University Of Tartu

054 - Navigating the risks: stakeholder views on risk-based cervical cancer screening

Biography

Dr.Maali-Liina Remmel is a doctoral student specializing in risk-based cervical cancer screening, focusing on its acceptability among diverse stakeholders, including women, healthcare organizers, and providers. Dr Remmel has a strong foundation in clinical practice as a family medicine doctor in training. Her work aims to improve cancer prevention strategies and advance evidence-based screening practices that prioritize patient-centered care and collaborative decision-making.
Dr Iakovos Toumazis

082 - Risk of Second Primary Lung Cancer Among Cancer Survivors Stratified by The Site of First Primary Cancer and The Lung Cancer Screening Eligibility Status

Biography

Iakovos Toumazis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Health Services Research, at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research is currently supported by the NCI and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), among others. Dr. Toumazis is an active member of the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) Lung Working Group and of the American Cancer Society (ACS) National Lung Cancer Roundtable (NLCRT) Shared Decision-Making Task Group. His research interests include sequential decision making under uncertainty, applications of operations research in healthcare, simulation modeling, and cost-effectiveness analyses of cancer interventions.

110 - Communicating the results of risk-based breast cancer screening: visualized information does not necessarily seem better than textual information with numbers

Biography

Drs. Inge van Strien is a postdoc researcher at Amsterdam UMC with an original background in Health Psychology. In multiple projects she has investigated perceptions and barriers of people with varying levels of health literacy regarding population-based cancer screening. She has also investigated women's views regarding risk-based breast cancer screening. Design directions for communicating information about population-based and risk-based cancer screening were also explored. Inge van Strien is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research, including participatory methods and co-creation of communication materials.
