An experience of co-creation to reduce inequalities in cervical cancer screening: considerations for implementing self-sampling as a screening test in the Italian context

Biography

Laura Bonvicini: I was born in Scandiano, Reggio Emilia (Italy) the 1° of February 1984. In 2009: Master's degree in statistical science. In 2013: Master's degree in Epidemiolgy. I work at the Epidemiology Unit of the Local Health Authority of Reggio Emilia. I deal with population based studies and epidemiological analyses based on census data and administrative health databases and I have experiences on projects at national and European level in the field of primary and secondary prevention, maternal and child health, health of migrants and health and environment. I collaborate on diverse processes of co-creation and stakeholder involvment.

Engaging community and healthcare provider stakeholders in collaborative development of a novel mHealth intervention integrated into cervical cancer control programs on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua

Biography

Emma Mitchell, PhD, RN, Associate Professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing, studies cervical cancer prevention through design and implementation of innovative technologies and models for cervical cancer screening and early detection in low resourced settings, including in Appalachian Virginia and the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. Current work funded by the NIH/FIC, is community-based participatory research on iterative tailoring and development of novel mHealth interventions integrated into HPV-based cervical cancer screening on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. She co-leads the ICSN HPV-based screening working group.

Biography

Sue is Professor of Psychology at the University of Sheffield in the UK. Her research focuses on understanding and addressing inequity in cancer screening and vaccination uptake. She currently holds an NIHR funded award exploring how to improve access to cervical screening for physically Disabled people (https://www.dev.fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR204322).

Dr Carlene Wilson

Implementing a system based on GP endorsement and patient navigation to support participation in a national bowel cancer screening program – barriers and facilitators

Biography

Carlene is Professor of Behavioural Oncology at the University of Melbourne in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, and a Chief Investigator in the Bowel Cancer Screening Alliance. Her research is focused on identifying predictors of participation in cancer screening programs and strategies for improving participation rates. She is committed to codesign of public health interventions and is focused on giving a voice to those currently not heard to develop inclusive and equitable interventions. She is particularly keen to give voice to those from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.
