Forecasting the lung cancer burden among current smokers potentially eligible for population-based screening in the EU
Biography
Katarina Bartekova is a PhD candidate at the Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam, working within the Europe-wide EUCanScreen project. She holds a Master of Science in Applied Data Science with a focus on health data. The primary interest of her PhD trajectory is on mathematical modelling of benefits and harms of cancer screening in Europe, particularly by extending the EUTOPIA web tool for policymakers to novel screening programmes for lung cancer and prostate cancer.

Biography
Professor Anne Cust is a cancer epidemiologist whose research is primarily focused on the prevention and early detection of melanoma and other skin cancers. She is interim Director of the Daffodil Centre and is a Faculty member of the Melanoma Institute Australia. She is Chair of the Cancer Council National Skin Cancer Committee, Chair of the NSW Skin Cancer Prevention Advisory Committee, and a Past-President of the Australasian Epidemiological Association. She is leading an Australian government-funded Roadmap for a National Targeted Skin Cancer Screening Program (2025-2028).

Mr. Gregory Doyle is the manager of population cancer screening and registries with
Newfoundland Labrador Health Services. Mr. Doyle is chair of the Canadian Breast
Cancer Screening Network, and an expert advisor to the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.
He has 25 years of experience in population cancer screening (breast, cervical, colon, and lung) in Canada. He is a current member of the Canadian Council of Cancer Registries, and the Expert External Review Panel of the Canadian Taskforce on Preventive Health Care. He has also served as the Chair of the Translational Advisory Committee of the PERSPECTIVE project.

Biography
I am a Clinical Manager and Coordinator of Screening Programmes for Lung and Prostate Cancer, actively involved in the preparation and implementation of preventive programmes in the Czech Republic. As a PhD student, my research focuses on prostat cancer and cancer prevention and improving population health outcomes through organised screening initiatives. I have experience in programme coordination and public health advocacy. I present at conferences and professional events, sharing insights on screening programme development, implementation. My work aims to bridge research and practice in cancer prevention.

Biography
Mārcis Leja is a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Institute of Clinical and Preventive Medicine, University of Latvia, Head of the Dept. of Research, Riga East University hospital, and a consulting gastroenterologist at the Digestive Diseases Centre ‘Gastro’, Riga, Latvia. He serves as an external advisor to the Minister of Health of Latvia.
His special interest lies in the prevention and early detection of gastrointestinal cancer. He is the principal investigator of the population-based gastric cancer prevention study GISTAR (www.gistar.eu) and research coordinator of TOGAS (www.togas.lu.lv) and EuCanScreen (EUCanScreen - 6η Υ.ΠΕ) projects.
