Biography

She has a degree in Mathematics, a PhD in Public Health, and a Masters degree in Health Service Management. She has worked as a researcher at the Basque Health Service – Osakidetza, and has authored around 60 scientific papers. She developed her scientific career in the domain of health economics. Her principal expertise is the application of mathematical modelling in the epidemiological and economic evaluation of population-level interventions such as cancer screening.

Biography

Currently, as part of the Healthcare quality group on cancer, I coordinate the development of European quality assurance schemes in cancer care. The scheme development aims to ensure the highest standards throughout the cancer care continuum in the context of organised, population-based cancer screening. I am a biomedical scientist specialized in Molecular Pathology and have worked in healthcare for 11 years in the areas of Genetics and Cellular Pathology. I have led innovative projects in both academia and the biotech industry, including clinical validation and commercialization, transition to digital pathology and molecular research projects.

Biography

Chen Mingyang's research focuses on leveraging digital technologies for cervical cancer prevention and control. With extensive experience in innovative colposcopy training and quality control in cervical cancer screening, he has published several papers as the first author in npj Digital Medicine and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research has been presented at international conferences, including IFCPC, ASCCP, and EUROGIN. Chen was awarded the 2024 ASCCP Teaching Award for his contributions.

Susanne Fogh Jørgensen has a background in public health and holds a PhD in cancer screening from 2021. In January 2024, Susanne joined the University of Southern Denmark as an Assistant Professor, continuing research efforts to improve cancer screening practices and evaluating benefits and harms of screening.

Dr. Sathishrajaa Palaniraja is a medical doctor with a specialization in Public Health, currently serving as an Early Career Scientist at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). He is actively engaged in several impactful projects, including PRAISE-U, ACCI, and CanScreen5, which aim to enhance cancer screening, prevention, and control globally. Dr. Palaniraja’s research interests encompass implementation science, evidence synthesis, and qualitative research methodologies.

296 - Monitoring of Prostate Cancer Screening in the European Union: Development of Key Performance Indicators through the PRAISE-U project

Biography

Currently, I am a Technical Lead for the PRAISE-U project at the Early Detection, Prevention, and Infections (EPR) branch of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO). In this position, I am responsible for developing country specific protocols for prostate cancer screening, leading research on global estimates of several cancer types, measuring social inequalities in cancer incidence and mortality. I also coordinate projects on patterns of care of common adult and childhood cancers in LMICs, implementation research project on Clinical Breast Examination in Nepal. Previously, I held research fellow and project coordination roles in Finland, Norway, and Nepal.
